Looks unusually phallic in this image. The boot has a distinctly testicular feel to it as well.
Also: Mazda? Ford? I think they used this same shift knob for quite a few years.

I just got the image off Google, I think it’s from a Mazda Protege though.

Haha, I thought it might be. It felt like the gearstick/knob to a Mazda G5M.

So....I’m not an enthusiast? ....What am I gonna tell the wife? What am I gonna say to the kid? They are going to be so disappointed in me. Me, a fake-enthusiast. I....I need a moment...

Coming from the US, I felt like a complete rookie hack for the first couple of days when I visited New Zealand. Hard to re-train your mind for left hand shifts. Conversely, when I came home 3 months later, I promptly got in the right side of my car and it took a second to realize the steering wheel was no longer in front of me.

The first time I ever drove a LHD was over here in the UK in a friends Turbo NB Miata (his was imported from the US so actually was a miata not an MX-5) it was in the snow and I was so focused on not crashing I forgot all about muscle memory in respect to what hand I normally used to shift. I didn’t punch the door once.

If he drives a manual like he puts words together in a sentence. He’ll start out in sixth gear every time. I kidd kidd
